Galil Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Galil

Galil

Uncorked this full-bodied Israeli wine with a filet mignon fondue recently and was pleased with my selection.  This wine is dark ruby in color, rich with ripe cassis, offer a medium finish and shows great legs.

About $15 per bottle.

  1. I am adding you to my side bar, and to the Wine-down Wednesday post this week…

  2. Can’t wait for you to try it!

  3. Very interesting!

I have yet to try an Israeli wine… how would you say they compare with Cabs from CA?

  4. This one was rich and ‘thick’. Compares to some CA cabs, but somewhat less…intense. One thing they don’t have in common with CA cabs is that they are affordable and still pretty great! See other post about another Israeli cab: http://bit.ly/6d0r6c

  5. I’m so thrilled you’re drinking and enjoying Israeli wines! If you like Galil Mountain, you should really try their “flagship” wine – called Yiron. The 2005 should still be available (2006 is now on the shelf). It’s a real Bordeaux-eque wine, and real favorite here in Israel. It retails for around $25 here, so not sure what it’ll be stateside.

  6. Thanks for the Israeli wine recommendation! Will look for Yiron on my next wine shopping trip.
