Spuntino Wine Bar Sets Limited-Time Plant Based Menu

Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas (http://spuntinowinebar.com), specializing in small plates with modern twists to Italian classics and fine wines from around the world, is launching today its first plant-based menu at its locations in the Clifton Commons in Clifton, NJ and The Gallery at Westbury Plaza in Garden City, NY.

Beet & Goat Cheese Terrine

Available from July 1 – 31, this five-course tapas-style tasting menu celebrates local, seasonal ingredients served at the peak of freshness. Not only will this menu satisfy your appetite, but it will support local harvest and community farms throughout New Jersey and New York, including Antonio Mozzarella in Newark, NJ, Baldor and Blue Ribbon Fish in Bronx, NY, City Green Farm in Clifton, NJ, DiCarlo and J.Kings in Holtsville, NY and Vrola Meat Company in South Amboy, NJ.

In addition, the restaurants will donate $1 for each dish sold from the plant-based menu, or $5 when guests order the full five-course tasting menu to City Green (for the Clifton location), a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating the establishment of urban farms and gardens in northern New Jersey’s cities to create increased access to healthy, local food. Proceeds in Garden City location will benefit Island Harvest, Long Island’s leading hunger-relief organization, which provides food and other resources to people in need with a goal to end hunger and reduce food waste throughout Long Island.

The full menu includes:

  • Jicama & Mango Salad – Jicama, mango, red bell pepper, citrus vinaigrette, chives. Paired with Zardetto Prosecco NV.
  • Spaghetti Squash Pomodoro – Roasted spaghetti squash, Italian cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil. Paired with Soave Classico Suavia 2017.
  • Grilled Vegetables – Grilled asparagus, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, roasted pepper, balsamic glaze. Paired with Boedecker Pinot Noir 2015.
  • Beet & Goat Cheese Terrine – Red beets, goat cheese, micro greens, balsamic glaze, extra virgin olive oil. Paired with Super Tuscan Allestino Rosso 2016.
  • Eggplant Meatball – Eggplant, breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese, basil. Paired with Tellus Cabernet Sauvignon 2014.
