2012 Banrock Station Chardonnay

2012 Banrock Station Chardonnay

This is a food-friendly wine that is also nice as a summer sipper on a warm afternoon on the patio. For the price point, it would be affordable to grab a case and serve it all summer long.

2008 Wyndham Estate BIN 555 Shiraz

2008 Wyndham Estate BIN 555 Shiraz

I’d had this bottle for a while and when I planned a casual grilled steak dinner for Memorial Day weekend, I opted to open it for my guests.

In the glass, the wine is bright ruby with some violet hues. Very pretty.  On the nose, there are aromas of stone fruit with a little coffee and chocolate and some spiced notes.  On the palate, this rich Australian Shiraz is big with dark cherry flavor and plummy chewiness laced with clove and nutmeg.

Pairings:  Grilled steaks, meat lasagna.

Style: Red

Grape Type(s): Syrah

Region: South Eastern Australia

Around $10

ZED Moscato Rosé – Blushing Surprise

ZED Moscato Rosé – Blushing Surprise

If you read this blog, you’ll have figured out that I love rosé and sparkling wines.  I just find them perfect as an aperitif or with many foods and one can typically find a favorite at an affordable price.

The winemakers at Australia’s Jacob’s Creek have developed an easy-drinking, affordable sparkling rosé that is certain to please most palate.

In the glass, ZED Moscato Rosé is pale pink and simply festive in appearance.  On the nose, it offers maraschino cherry / strawberry aromas.  In the mouth, the wine is a little sweet with nice acidity and note of raspberry and Asian pear.

As I was enjoying a glass of ZED, I began thinking how nice it would be used in a cocktail.  Out comes the shaker with a shot of good quality Vodka, a slash of Triple Sec and a squeeze of lime – delicious!

Just a pretty wine that’s tasty on its own and delicious in a cocktail.

Style: Rosé

Grape Type(s): Moscato
